Airbrushed Acrylics
I am a commercial illustrator specializing in airbrushed illustrations, murals, and fine art signs. My art is a 1940s film noire realism, not photo realistic. I like to emphasize beauty, clarity, compassion, and humor into my work whenever possible. My goal is to create images that live and to make the real unreal and the unreal real. I particularly like to paint people but I can render buildings, machines, and landscapes equally well. Some of my influences are Walt Disney, Mad Magazine, Rembrandt, John Singer Sargeant, Ingres, David, and any of the artists from the golden age of illustration and the pulp magazine covers. My business, Clownbank Studio, was established in 1976 and a partial list of my commercial clients includes Disney, Universal Studio Tours, Atari, Dell Publishing, Buck Owens Productions, and the cities of Palo Alto, Watsonville, Santa Cruz, Chico, Sacramento, and Salt Lake City. I also have a long list of private clients and am always willing to take on an interesting commission. I am currently involved in several public art mural commissions and like to use my public murals to inspire communities and organizations to realize their higher goals. My creative process allows a lot of input from the client so that the final product is not a surprise.....
