Tell me a story… A Clay Tile Project

Instructor: Erin Wells - (530) 891-8411

This class will be a bit different. Beginning on Thursday April 9 we will work together for 3 weeks creating a minimum of 4 handmade tiles. Each tile will relate to the other and the whole will tell a story arranged like a comic strip… any story is fine. Then the group will take a 3 week hiatus while our tiles get dry and ready to decorate. You may add rocks, shells, glass and other “natural” finds to the greenware. No Metal… it will melt in the fire. We will reconvene on May 21 for 4 more weeks in which time we will finish our tiles, (sand, trim, clean up and fire a bisque) the third week we will finish our decorations and colors and do a fire to finish. The 4th week we will get our work and share our thoughts on this process. Your tiles will be ready to add to a mosaic, or a table top, or to be part of a trivet for the kitchen, or may be decorative wall tiles that you can frame and display.

You will get 1/2 block of clay (13 lbs) lots of instruction and ideas and hopefully have some beautiful tiles to use in other projects in the future. You will learn the process of hand building tiles, lots of patience and more about glazing and decorating. Email erinw045@gmail.com
